Changing What an Existing User Can Do
Account administrators can review anyone who has access to your account and change what they're allowed to do — for example, promoting someone so they can place orders, or restricting them to checking product availability only.

Before you begin: You're already signed in and on your dashboard, with the account the person belongs to selected. Have their name or email address to hand.
Step 1 — Find the user
In the left-hand menu, under Account, select Users, then type part of the person's name or email into the Filter Users (Name, Email, Account Number) box.
The row shows their current Role, whether they're Active, which accounts they can see, and when they registered. In this example the user LName, FName currently has the Admin role.

Step 2 — Open their details
Click the person's name to open the Manage User page.
Personal Information at the top shows their name and email address. These are read-only — only the person themselves can change their own contact details from their profile.
Underneath, Primary Role shows which role they hold today, and the table at the bottom lists the accounts they can access along with the status of each.

Step 3 — Choose a new role
Pick the role that matches what the person needs to do. Each option explains what it allows:
| Role | What they can do |
|---|---|
| Account Administrator | View pricing and availability, place orders, view all reports, add new users, update permissions and approve pending requests |
| Account Payable | View pricing and availability, and view all reports including payment history and credit summary |
| Buyer | View pricing and availability, place orders, and view all reports except payment history and credit summary |
| User - No Checkout | View pricing and availability, but cannot place orders, view reports or view invoices |
| User - availability Only | Check product availability only |
A person can only hold one primary role, so selecting a new one clears the previous choice. In this example we're changing the user from Account Administrator to Buyer.

Step 4 — Save the change
Click SUBMIT.
The page saves your change and stays on Manage User. To be sure it took effect, you can reload the page — the new role will still be selected.

Step 5 — Check the change on the Users page
Go back to Users and filter for the person again. Their row now shows the new role, and their status and account access are unchanged.
| Role | Status | Account Access | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Before | Admin | Active | U3427563 |
| After | Buyer | Active | U3427563 |

That's it. The new permissions apply the next time the person signs in. You can come back to this page at any time to change their role again, give them access to another account, or remove their access altogether.
